When I posted this yesterday, I completely didn’t realize that of the five players I listed that have “veteran presence” (Pierre, Jones, Kent, Penny and Lowe), all five have world series rings. (Pierre with Florida in ‘03, Jones with Atlanta in ‘95, Kent with Toronto in ‘92, Penny with Florida in ‘03 and Lowe with Boston in ‘04).
Kent, while he got traded from the Blue Jays to the Mets in ‘92, still received a ring.
But hell, let’s listen to Ken Rosenthal and get another veteran presence who has another ring. Why not trade Kemp for Tom Glavine, who’s pitching like garbage this year, but he’s an established veteran who will surely add (nothing) to the club? Think of what he provided for the Mets last year when they needed to win the final game of the season to get into the playoffs against the Marlins and allowed seven runs in the first inning in their eventual 8-1 humiliating loss. That’s exactly what the Dodgers need. More humiliating losses.
