Scorekeeping: racism and baseball cliches updated.

Updating on previous claims filed so far and we’re only a few weeks into the season. Thanks to a few readers and Walk-Off Walk, we’ve got a few responses.

One white baseball player complimented for hustle.

One black baseball players criticized for lack of hustle.

One white baseball player criticized for lack of hustle, though without the key words.

One latino baseball player criticized for lack of hustle, but by a manager.

One white baseball player complimented for being “gifted.”

One asian baseball player was complimented as a “good little player.” I’m considering tossing this one, but might as well keep it around in case we hear anything else about it.

In non-racism, we had one ballplayer (Gary Matthews Jr.) referred to as a good defensive player though no metric has shown him as a good defensive player in the past four years.

lol

Tomorrow, I’m collecting data from Walk-Off Walk’s post and sorting through relevant work since the start of the season on “grit,” “hustle” and lack there of.
